DESIGN AND SPEC

Foundations

Pre-Manufactured concrete pads with adjustable screw-jack supports with tanalised timber ring beam above.

Wall, Floor and Roof Structure

Structural Insulated Panel (SIP): A product that fuses a foam core between two outer skins of Oriented Strand Board (OSB) to create a super-strong construction panel. The SIPs are used to construct the walls, floor and roof ensuring superior insulation.

The foam core of a SIP provides higher insulation values than many other insulation materials used in traditional wall construction. Because SIPs have fewer gaps and the studs do not interrupt the insulation, SIPs have proven to be a far superior product than traditional walls. Almost 20% of a traditional stud wall is made of studs and other non-insulated materials. The K-value of fibreglass, mineral wool and cellulose insulation tested in the lab is significantly higher than its performance in the actual wall. However SIPs, due to being composed of solid insulation, perform virtually as well in the actual structure as they do in a lab test. They also act better as a barrier to external noise than structures built from traditional methods.

Exceptional strength

Since the finished panels are an integrated building product, literally acting as a structural component, they are able to withstand and even surpass typical loads caused by wind, snow and even seismic activities.

Environmental benefits

SIPs offer several benefits to the environment. Because SIPs effectively replace conventional stud wall construction, fewer mature forest products need to be harvested. The outer OSB skins are made from engineered wood that is manufactured from renewable, fast growing trees. SIPs offer superior insulation qualities, heating and electricity bills are reduced and as a result fewer fossil fuels need to be burned.

Single panel dimensions

Widths available 200 - 1200mm.
Heights 2.4, 2.7, 3.0m.
Roofing SIPs are available up to 6.0m long.

All SIPs are available in the following thickness:
80, 100, 125, 150 and 225mm.

Exterior Cladding Options

Traditionally clad in Eco-friendly Western Red Cedar which comes with a chain of custody certificate. This is naturally resistant to moisture, decay and insect damage. As a result it is the ideal wood for outdoor applications removing the need for toxic chemical preservatives. The even grain and relatively consistent density make Western Red Cedar less likely to swell, warp, cup, and twist than other soft and hardwoods. Further options are to have it clad using brick slips, Trespa paneling Or Rendor.

Doors

Bi-fold aluminium powder coated doors give high performance weathering. They accommodate many styles and opening options, in and out, single or dual colour finishes, slide right or left in opening, security locking on main doors and intermediate styles. Internally beaded for additional security and virtually maintenance free.

Windows

Aluminium windows, powder coated in a choice of RAL colours, with high security sash profiles and internally glazed.

Roof Covering

A single ply membrane (EPDM) is available in a variety of colours that is both environmentally friendly and long lasting. Optional living Sedum roof as well as rainwater harvesting and the use of Photo Voltaic Cells.

Internal Finishes

Walls and Ceiling

12.5mm plasterboard with skim finish or a suspended grid system.

Floor

Choice of finishes include laminate flooring, solid oak, T & G, Altro, walkway or carpet.
