  FAQs - Garden Office

If you have any questions that are not answered here please email us.

Q: Will the Qube need planning permission?

A: In 95% of cases planning permission is not required. The rule of thumb is that the Qube does not take up more than 50% of the garden, is more than 1m from any boundary, is 5m from the main dwelling and does not exceed 4m high for a pitched roof, 3m for a flat roof.

If you are in a conservation area, national park or listed building, you may have to get planning permission regardless. If you don't own the property, check any restrictions on the lease with your landlord.

Q: How long does it take to build?

A: Generally the build time is 1 week with a lead - time of 5 weeks after placement of order.

Q: What about electricity and other services to the building?

A: We take care of the installation of all services, which can include water, gas, and drainage, BT and Sky. Costs for this vary dependant on distance away from property and location of all services. A fixed price will be provided after a site survey.

Q: Does the Qube require foundations?

A: The Qube is positioned on height adjustable legs which are fitted onto concrete pads. The adjustable legs go from 50 - 600mm so the Qube can be fitted onto uneven surfaces.

Q: How long is the Qube is the guaranteed for?

A: The Qube is guaranteed for five years or can be backed up with an insurance backed ten-year guarantee.

Q: Is the Qube relocatable?

A: If on placement of order you tell us you want to be able to take it with you, we will build it so the Qube can be craned out and transported to your new home.

Q: Will the Qube add value to my house?

A: More often than not, the value the Qube could add to your house will cover the build cost.

Q: Is the Qube a standard size?

A: The Qube is custom built to your requirements, you can specify size, (up to 30m2 without planning permission) interior finishes, colours and floor coverings.

Q: Can the Qube be used in the winter?

A: The Qube can be used on the coldest winter day the UK can give us, the structure is built with Structural Insulated Panels which have a 40% better themal U Value than a traditional built house. Also the Qube is fitted with thermostatically controlled heating.

Q: How much is the Qube?

A: Although every Qube is different and subject to customers own specification, a basic 3.6 x 3.6m Qube starts at £14,500 + vat.

Q: How can I view the Qube?

A: We are at present setting up a network of authorised dealers across the UK, please call the office to see where you can view a Qube near you.
